Today, the site is once again filled with the spirit of innovation and transformation: A pioneering life science ecosystem is under development in the protected buildings which is embedded in an urban block with a vibrant neighbourhood community.
An stimulating mix of uses that includes workspace for research & development, education, prototyping and classic offices is complemented by a variety of gastronomic amenities as well as by serviced apartments, an urban mobility hub and retailers.
The vibrant, knowledge-based locality evolving here is grouped around two greened courtyards, encouraging encounters, collaboration and communication in modern work environments.

FOR OVER
A CENTURY
Bergmann Electricitäts-Werke AG acquires the plot and constructs its first light bulb plant. Its enormous success prompts numerous expansions of the production facilities.
Taken over by OSRAM AG. OSRAM- Höfe is expanded into the largest light bulb factory in Europe, employing more than 5,500 workers.
After the end of the light bulb production in the late 1980s, the buildings are granted protected heritage status. A number of businesses and firms of various sizes move into the premises.
The conversion and revitalisation of OSRAM-Höfe complex into a sustainable, state-of-the-art life science campus kicked off.

Good for the climate, good for people: The courtyards, once they are unsealed to match their new purposes, will be landscaped with plenty of greenery to improve the micro-climate in the courtyards and be fitted with outdoor furniture to enhance the quality of stay.

SHINE BRIGHT!
Energy-efficient, welcoming and illuminating. In close consultation with the heritage conservation authority, a smart new LED lighting system is being developed that will properly illuminate the courtyards, façades and staircases of the entire estate.
